Happy 2 Month Anniversary!

Today marks Aaron and my 2 Month Anniversary! I know some may say that it's silly to celebrate being married only 2 whole months, but it's very exciting for us. The first month of marriage was all about adjusting to one another and our expectations of each other's roles in the marriage. It was frustrating and challenging at times, but literally once we started praying that the Lord would strengthen our marriage, it became so much easier and such a joy. I think this is the main lesson that the Lord has been showing me in our marriage: prayer is not an option, it's a necessity.

Praying over your marriage and asking the Lord to strengthen it and protect it, gives you peace and joy that cannot be explained through words. When Aaron and I hear of marriages or relationships riddled with fighting and a total lack of peace, it saddens us because we know that the Lord can heal any wound we cause and if He is at the center of the marriage, He can instill a peace that just makes you fall in love more and more with the other person.

I have kept many of the beautiful wedding cards that we received, but one of our dearest friends, Luby, wrote a quote that is proudly displayed in our home. The quote says (paraphrasing), "On your wedding day, you are in love. In your marriage, you now must choose to continue to love one another." This is very, very wise because life is challenging, bills need to be paid, and details of life can crowd you both and cause dis-ease instead of peace in a marriage.

However, if you wake up each day and pray for the Lord to surround your marriage, to bless it with peace and protect it, He will. The Lord designed marriage and it is the most beautiful relationship you will have in your life, if you will surrender it to the Lord by asking for His blessing on it and peace in it every day. I thank the Lord for my husband, Aaron, and how he is everything good in this life. He is the best thing that will ever happen to me, which is clear that the Lord had him in mind for me from the beginning.
